Our teachers are thoughtful observers of children—listening to their ideas, watching how they explore, and noting their interests and developmental needs. These observations guide the creation of individualized, interest-based learning experiences that honor each child’s unique strengths and learning style. Because our program is truly child-centered, children play an active role in shaping their learning through curiosity, exploration, and play.
Curriculum grows from what children are naturally curious about or where they need additional support and continues as long as their engagement remains strong—sometimes for a few days and sometimes unfolding over several weeks. Teachers intentionally weave early literacy, math, language development, social-emotional learning, and fine and gross motor skills into each project, ensuring that learning is meaningful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
Children are part of small Primary Groups led by consistent teachers who build strong, trusting relationships each day. Our 2-year-old and 3-year-old Primary Groups each have two teachers and are made up of about five children per group, allowing for close connection and individualized support. Our 4-year-old group is guided by one primary teacher who supports growing independence while maintaining a warm, nurturing classroom environment.
At Evergreen Children's Academy, children are at the heart of everything we do. From how our classroom is set up to how our teachers plan activities and talk with the children, every choice is made with their needs, interests, and well-being in mind. This child-centered approach is what makes our school feel different from more traditional programs.
Our classroom is designed to help children feel capable and confident as they explore, play, and learn. We encourage independence, curiosity, and joy in learning while gently supporting important self-help and social skills. Our teachers take time to truly know each child, meeting them where they are and guiding them with care as they grow, discover, and build confidence every day.

Nature is not separate from learning at Evergreen — it is woven into the fabric of childhood itself. We believe children learn best through movement, curiosity, sensory experiences, and meaningful connection with the world around them.
Located on the beautiful Marin Art & Garden Center campus in Ross, Evergreen children have daily access to expansive gardens, open outdoor spaces, and the natural beauty that surrounds our school community. Our classrooms extend far beyond four walls, allowing children to spend meaningful time outside each day exploring, observing, creating, and connecting with nature in authentic ways.
Our nature-based approach invites children to tend gardens, observe seasonal changes, create with natural materials, and develop a deep sense of wonder and belonging. Whether climbing, digging, painting, storytelling, or simply noticing the small details of the natural world, children are encouraged to slow down, explore freely, and engage with learning through hands-on experiences.
At Evergreen, nature becomes a classroom, a playground, and a place of connection — nurturing confidence, creativity, resilience, and joy in early childhood.
